Back to School Healthy Snacks

August 19, 2021

Back-to-school means packing your kids the fuel they need to get through the day with back-to-school healthy snacks. These school snack ideas are easy to prep, delicious, and nutritious. These are also perfect for schools as these kids’ snack ideas are nut-free using sunflower seed butter instead of almond or peanut butter alternative. You can also add a note in their lunch box to help fight their jitters going back.

School Snack Ideas

1. Boom Chica-Pop Popcorn

2. Make good Mini’s or granola bars

3. Chocolate Fix- Unreal

4. Quick ideas that use Sunflower Seed Butter - since schools are nut-free here are 3 snacks that use sunflower seed butter which is a great alternative to peanut butter. You can either pack it in small containers for them to spread themselves or individual packets.

  • Ants on a log - celery, sunflower seed butter, and raisins on top.

  • Apple slices and sunflower seed butter to dip in.

  • Rice cakes with sunflower seed butter spread on top - you can also find flavored rice cakes.

5. Cheese (dairy-free options- Veg life, Daiya) and gluten-free crackers - an old favorite

6. Tuna salad on cucumber slices or with sliced red & yellow peppers.

Packing Kids Lunches and Snacks

If you want an easy flat pack with space for all the different items without them touching each other, bento boxes are the way to go. You can get plastic varieties that are less expensive but I really prefer the stainless steel ones. For smaller individual snacks, ditch one time use plastic reusable baggies for these silicone reusable ones instead. It’s less waste and these stasher bags come in all sizes and can be washed on the top rack of the dishwasher.
