Hi Green Friends!
It’s National Gardening Week—a special time to get your hands dirty and your hearts full of nature’s wonders. Whether you’re planting flowers, veggies, or even a little seed in a paper cup, you’re helping to care for the Earth—just like TuTu does!
At TuTu’s Green World, we believe every kid can be a gardener. All you need is curiosity, a little soil, and sunshine (and maybe a watering can!).
Why Gardening Rocks:
You grow your own food. From a teeny seed to a juicy tomato—gardening lets you see the magic of nature up close.
You help the planet. Plants clean the air and give homes to butterflies, bees, and worms.
You become a nature hero. Every time you plant something, you’re making the world a little greener.
TuTu’s Top 3 Garden Projects for Kids:
1. Grow a Salad in a Pot
Try planting lettuce, cherry tomatoes, or herbs like basil in a container. You’ll be eating your own homegrown salad in no time!
2. Make a Bug Hotel
Stack sticks, pinecones, and bark in an empty box to invite helpful bugs to your garden.
3. Start a Garden Journal
Draw your plants, track how tall they grow, and write about what you see. You’re the scientist in your garden!
Composting: Turning Scraps into Super Soil!
What is composting? Composting is when leftover food, yard clippings, and even paper break down into rich, dark soil called compost. It’s like nature’s way of recycling!
Why is composting important?
It keeps trash out of landfills
It feeds your garden without chemicals
It helps worms, bugs, and bacteria keep the soil healthy
What can be composted? There are two types of compostable materials:
Greens: Fruits, vegetables, coffee grounds, tea bags, fresh grass
Browns: Dry leaves, shredded paper, cardboard, twigs
What should you NOT compost?
No meat, dairy, oily food, or plastic. These can attract pests or won’t break down.
How do you compost?
Start a pile or bin outside in a shady spot, or use a special indoor compost bucket.
Add greens and browns—try to balance them.
Turn or stir the pile every week to help it break down faster.
In a few weeks or months—ta-da! You’ll have dark, crumbly compost ready for your garden beds.
Bonus Tip: Worms love composting too! Ask an adult about vermicomposting (that’s composting with worms—TuTu’s favorite!).
You Can Be a Garden Guardian!
Gardening and composting aren’t just about plants—they’re about protecting our Earth. Every small act you take helps make a big impact.

World Day of Social Justice is a reminder that fairness, kindness, and opportunity should be part of everyone’s life. It encourages us to think about how people are treated and whether everyone has what they need to be healthy, safe, and respected. What many youth may not realize is that caring for people is deeply connected to caring for the planet we all share.
When people think of Valentine’s Day, they often picture hearts, candy, and cards. While those are fun, this holiday can also be something much bigger. Valentine’s Day is really about love, and love does not stop with just one person. It can include our friends, our families, animals, and even the Earth itself 🌍.
World Environmental Education Day is a celebration of learning about our planet and why it needs our care 🌍. For youth, this day is a reminder that curiosity is powerful. Asking questions about nature, animals, weather, and ecosystems helps turn everyday observations into real understanding. The more you learn about how Earth works, the more confident you become in helping protect it.
